The Devil
Pictures by Pamela Colman Smith
Pamela Colman Smith's Devil from her 1909 tarot deck crouches over two small chained figures, under the words temptation, mischief and breaking free. Look closely and the chains hang loose enough to slip off, a playful reminder that whatever binds us, we are freer than we think. For someone with a little mischief in them.
