The Emperor
Pictures by Pamela Colman Smith
The Emperor from Pamela Colman Smith's 1909 tarot deck sits crowned on a stone throne carved with rams, sceptre in hand, under the words strength, steadiness and protection. In the tarot he is the steady hand and the solid ground, a promise to build and to protect. For someone who holds everything together.
