Bazley's Spiral
Pictures by Thomas S. Bazley
Fine white loops sweep in a spiral around a small black rosette in this pattern from Thomas S. Bazley's 1872 Notes on the Epicycloidal Cutting Frame. Bazley made it on a lathe, turning a screw a fixed amount between each curve, and printed it white on black. A birthday card for someone who loves a beautiful, precise pattern.
