Bazley's Looped Ring
Pictures by Thomas S. Bazley
A ring of fine white loops turns around a black circle, a pattern from Thomas S. Bazley's 1872 book on the epicycloidal cutting frame. Bazley cut it on a lathe fitted with a set of gears that drove the cutting point round and round, then printed it as white lines on black. For the two of you, on another year around together.
