The life
Rebecca Davis made her quilts in the 1840s; three of them are now in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, given in 1980 by her granddaughter. One, her Honeycomb quilt, is dated 1846, and the others share its English printed cottons. Our two cards are her Nine Patch, little squares of pink, blue, brown and gold set between bands of deep red, and her Star of LeMoyne, rows of eight-pointed stars.
