Walking and Talking
Pictures by HiroshigeWords by Buson
Hiroshige's Sudden Shower over Shin-Ohashi Bridge shows travellers in straw hats hurrying across a bridge through slanting rain, with a lone boatman on the river below, paired with Buson's haiku of a raincoat and an umbrella walking and talking together. Hiroshige was one of the great masters of the Japanese woodblock print, and his rain went on to inspire Van Gogh. For a friend you love walking with.

Inside, it says
A swift spring-shower, and see! A rain-coat, and umbrella, chummily Walking and talking together. Buson (1716-1784)
On the back
Hokusai (1760-1849) and Hiroshige (1797-1858) were the great masters of the Japanese woodblock print. Their waves, rain and moonlit rabbits inspired Van Gogh and Monet. The card is paired with a short Japanese poem.
