The Sizes of the Heavens
Pictures by Andreas Cellarius
Andreas Cellarius's hand-coloured plate from 1660 sets the stars and planets in nested rings of gold, rose and blue, with the small Earth tucked at the bottom and cherubs drifting in the clouds around them. It comes from Harmonia Macrocosmica, a celebrated celestial atlas published in Amsterdam. For someone who loves the night sky and old maps.
