The Celestial Planisphere
Pictures by T. Clark
T. Clark's Celestial Planisphere, a colored engraving from around 1850, shows the Milky Way winding like a river across a deep blue sky full of stars. It was made as a star finder: a disc turned over the chart revealed which stars were up at any hour of the night. For a stargazer or anyone who loves old maps.
