Scotland
Pictures by Lilian Lancaster
Lilian Lancaster's 1868 map caricature turns the whole of Scotland into a red-haired piper in a tartan kilt, puffing on his bagpipes across the Highlands. In the book it came from, the verse beside this map calls Scotland a land of heroes and of cakes. For anyone with Scottish roots, or a love of old maps and a good laugh.
