The life
1471–1528Born Nuremberg, Germany
Albrecht Dürer was a painter, engraver and woodcut maker from Nuremberg, famous across Europe in his own lifetime for his self-portraits, his hare and his prints. Late in life he wrote Underweysung der Messung (1525), a handbook of geometry for artists, and in it printed the first nets for folding paper solids: flat shapes you cut out and fold into a three-dimensional form. Our card is one of them.
