The Old Town Hall, Bamberg
Pictures by Photoglob Co. and Braun & Hogenberg
Bamberg's painted Old Town Hall rises from its stone bridge over the Regnitz in this hand-coloured photochrom from about 1895, with an old map of the city by Braun and Hogenberg inside. Legend says the bishop refused the townspeople any land for it, so they built their town hall in the middle of the river. For a traveler, or anyone who loves old Germany.
