Tempo Hill, Osaka
Pictures by Utagawa Hiroshige II
Utagawa Hiroshige II shows Tempozan and its stone lighthouse above Osaka Bay, framed by pink cherry blossoms under a deep blue sky with a sunset glow. The little hill was built in 1831 from earth dredged out of the river and soon became a favorite place to take in the view. For someone who loves Japan, old prints or a quiet harbor scene.
