Starfish (Seba)
Pictures by Albertus Seba
Rows of starfish in sandy tans and sea blues, engraved for Albertus Seba's Thesaurus of Natural Curiosities in 1758, with a single cushion star waiting inside. Seba, an Amsterdam apothecary, bought shells, starfish and corals from Dutch East India Company ships as they docked, and had his great cabinet drawn and engraved. For someone who loves the sea.
