Starfish (Seba)
Pictures by Albertus Seba
A whole cabinet of starfish and brittle stars, in sandy browns, soft pinks and a striped teal, engraved for Albertus Seba's Thesaurus of Natural Curiosities in 1758. Seba was an Amsterdam apothecary who had his great collection of shells and sea creatures drawn and engraved, and the back adds that a starfish has a simple eye at the tip of each arm. For anyone who loves the sea.
