Sand Dollars and Sea Biscuits
Pictures by Albertus Seba
Rows of sand dollars and sea biscuits in soft browns and sea greens, engraved for Albertus Seba's Thesaurus of Natural Curiosities in 1758. Seba was an Amsterdam apothecary who had his great cabinet of shells and sea creatures drawn, and an old legend holds that a broken sand dollar releases five small doves of peace. For someone who loves the beach.
