Leipzig Old Town Hall and Market
Pictures by Photoglob Co. and Braun & Hogenberg
A hand-tinted photochrom from around 1895 shows Leipzig's Renaissance Old Town Hall, its green-domed tower rising over the gabled market square, with a 1617 Braun and Hogenberg bird's-eye map of the city inside. Built in 1556, the hall now houses the city history museum, in the town where Johann Sebastian Bach worked for 27 years. For a traveler or anyone with a soft spot for Leipzig.
