Sidney Hall's hand-coloured Capricorn sea-goat, from the 1824 star atlas Urania's Mirror, leaps across a map of stars above the dates December 22 to January 19. The original cards were pierced so the stars shone through when held up to the light, and inside, Belle Bart's 1923 words call Capricorns intelligent, studious and ambitious. The star signs come from Urania's Mirror (London, 1824), a boxed set of 32 hand-coloured constellation cards, pierced so the stars shone when held up to the light. The words come from 1920s astrology books.
