The life
1863–1935Born Paris, France
Paul Signac taught himself to paint and, with Georges Seurat, developed the method of painting in dots of pure colour. A keen sailor, he painted harbours and boats along the coasts of France, and later used larger, mosaic-like strokes. Our card, The Buoy, is from 1894.
