The life
1879–1940Born Münchenbuchsee, near Bern, Switzerland
Paul Klee grew up near Bern in a family of musicians and played the violin all his life. A trip to Tunisia in 1914 opened his eyes to colour, and he went on to teach at the Bauhaus, filling thousands of small pictures with signs, plants, faces and gentle humour. Our five cards run from 1915 to 1922, among them Senecio and Persian Nightingales.
