The life
about 1533–1588Born Dieppe, France
Jacques Le Moyne de Morgues sailed to Florida in 1564 with a French expedition and drew what he saw there. He escaped when the fort was attacked the next year, and later settled in London, where he painted flowers, fruit and small creatures in watercolour with great delicacy. Our kingfisher and flower cards are his.
