The life
1834–1923Born Salem, Massachusetts, USA
Fidelia Bridges painted nature up close: birds’ nests, ferns, grasses and the small birds among them, in fine, careful detail. She became known for her watercolours and was the only woman among the core members of the American Watercolor Society in its early years. She also designed greeting cards for the publisher Louis Prang. Our card is her nest of blue eggs among ferns, painted in 1863.
