The life
1860–1939Born Ivančice, Moravia (now Czech Republic)
Alphonse Mucha was working quietly in Paris when, at the end of 1894, he designed a poster for the actress Sarah Bernhardt, and soon his style was everywhere: women with flowing hair, framed in flowers and circles. He designed posters, calendars, jewellery and decorative panels, and later went home to paint The Slav Epic, twenty huge canvases on the history of the Slavic peoples. Our cards are his Zodiac of 1896 and two flower panels of 1902.
