The life
1808–1876Born Nantes, France
Alfred Guesdon studied drawing in Nantes and architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He became known for his bird’s-eye lithographs of European cities in France, Spain, Switzerland and Italy, many published in L’Illustration, and his series of Spanish cities seen from above is still admired in Madrid. Our card, The Ile Rousseau, Geneva, opens on a panoramic view of the city.
