The life
1885-1951Born Wimbledon, London, England
Agnes Richardson was an English illustrator, born in Wimbledon, the daughter of a printer. She studied at Lambeth School of Art and became a prolific artist for children's books, annuals and postcards, with a recognisable style of chubby, rosy-cheeked children and small animals. Between 1912 and 1922 she designed posters for the Underground Group in London, and around 1908 she made commercial designs for the printers Joseph Causton & Sons. Her paintings were shown at the Royal Academy, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and the Royal Society of Miniature Painters. Raphael Tuck & Sons published many of her greeting postcards. Little else is recorded about her life. Picturepops cards use her Raphael Tuck postcards of children from about 1917 to 1920.
