A gondola glides past the Doge's Palace and the tall Campanile of San Marco in this hand-coloured Venice photochrom from about 1895, with an old map of the city and its lagoon inside. The bell tower seen here collapsed in 1902 and was rebuilt exactly as it had been. For someone who loves Venice or dreams of going.
