Small-leaved Lime
Pictures by Walter MüllerWords by Franz Eugen Köhler
A branch of small-leaved lime, with its heart-shaped leaves and pale blossoms, drawn by Walther Otto Müller for Köhler's 1887 guide to healing plants, opens to a simple thank you. In many European villages a linden tree stood in the square, where people gathered and danced, and in July the bees make the trees hum. For someone whose kindness you want to acknowledge.
