Oslo: Karl Johans Gate and the Palace
By the Picturepops™ team
A hand-coloured photochrom from around 1895 looks up Karl Johans gate, Oslo's grand avenue, past horse trams and red-striped awnings to the Royal Palace, with an 1877 city map inside. When this picture was made the city was still called Christiania, and only took back its old name, Oslo, in 1925. For someone who loves Oslo or dreams of going.
