Old Cairo and the Citadel
Pictures by Photoglob Co.
Old Cairo rises toward the Citadel in this hand-coloured photochrom from around 1895, with the dome and slender minarets of the Muhammad Ali Mosque on the skyline. Finished in 1848, the mosque is still one of the most recognizable sights in the city, and inside an old map of Cairo spreads along the Nile. For a traveller, or anyone who loves Cairo.
