The life
active 1915–1935
Ueji Ten’itsu is known to us through his books. He compiled a book of designs for advertising in 1915, and in 1924 the Rikugōkan company published his Gendai shōgyō zuan taikan, a large survey of modern commercial design, full of posters, labels, lettering and flat, painterly pictures. His name appears again on a 1935 edition of a book on Japanese garden-making. Our card, Yellow Poppies on Green, comes from his 1924 book.
