The life
1890–1918Born Tulln an der Donau, Austria
Egon Schiele was a protégé of Gustav Klimt in Vienna and became known for his tense, angular portraits and self-portraits. He also painted towns, landscapes and trees, often bare and slender against the sky. He died of the Spanish flu in 1918, aged 28, three days after his wife Edith. Our cards are his Four Trees of 1917 and a portrait of a child from 1916.
