The life
1827–1895Born Guyencourt, France
Étienne Léopold Trouvelot was a French artist who settled in Massachusetts and turned to astronomy, working with the observatory at Harvard. He made thousands of drawings of the sun, moon, planets and nebulae, and fifteen of them were printed in colour as The Trouvelot Astronomical Drawings (1881–82). Our moon and star cards come from that set.
